244 Years On (from the American Declaration of Independence):'I Saw Another [Second] Beast Arising Out of the Earth [Unlike the First (Sea) Beast] [Possessing] Two Horns Like a [sweet little, innocent, Christlike] Lamb'
Problem is, Folks...
he [eventually] spoke like a *dragon
*Biblical symbol, naturally enough, of
the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan
the great [red] dragon...that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan
Hey, what's the ironclad, surefire 'secret' of biblical interpretation, folks? Pretty simple really...just let the Good Book interpret itself...and yes, it's well able to if you'll just let it, it really is...
...for as it well declares elsewhere,
no prophecy is of any private interpretation...
So, yes, though it puts me into some rather questionable, even highly disreputable company - such as former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Iran's revolutionary leader the Ayatollah Khomeini - it's not too large a leap or all that far off from their declarations, however mean-spirited and ideologically-driven...
of the United States of America being 'the Great Antichrist' or 'the Great Satan'...
...though personally I'd majorly adjust/adapt/reformulate that in this way:
for a brief - the briefest - period of time (possible), perhaps even the time that Revelation also declares
there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour
all hell will quite literally and dreadfully be let loose upon this planet originating from the U S of A.
And remember, folks, you heard it here first...
Postscript:
A little (a few days at most) after posting this...I've been blown away by a brilliantly-articulated opinion piece - thoroughly Scripturally-based - arguing that a certain conspicuous politician fits this very bill (of goods) as well...
Actually - to be entirely, pedantically, scripturally accurate and precise - 'fits the bill' of the Antichrist power otherwise defined in the selfsame (13th) chapter of Revelation as the Sea-Beast, or Beast #1. Whereas I would argue that - insofar as this particular politico does indeed fit this bill of goods - he pretty well melds in one person all the various and sundry, seemingly innumerable characteristics scattered throughout scripture of said Antichrist (power)...
...though other - and far more orthodox, and generally reliable biblical commentators thereupon - have - historically - tended to regard selfsame religio-political entity as a corporate one, as opposed to a 'mere' evil as individual...
